Padam Onnu: Oru Vilapam is the malayalam title of the film directed by T.V.Chandran. A thought provoking movie about the travails of young Muslim girls in rural Kerala, Padam Onnu centers around the life of Shahina, the fifteen year old protagonist played to perfection by Meera Jasmine.

This is one of those movies that will exhort you to take action against the unjustices of society, the under-age marriage of young Muslim girls to men twice or thrice their age who already have a bevy of legal wives at home. This film has won a many national(India) and international awards and for a pretty good reason too.

THE FILM WAS A FANTASTIC CREATION. A LOT OF REVIEWS HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED SO FAR. EVEN AS A MALAYALEE I COULD SEE IT ONLY TWO MONTHS BEFORE. TRUE, MEERA HAS PERFORMED VERY WELL WITH HER USUAL ECCENTRICITIES. BUT NO ONE HAS SAID ANY WORD ABOUT THE HERO(?) OF THE STORY. ONE REVIEW I READ TAHT IT IS AN OLD MAN MARRIES HER. BUT ACTUALLY, IT IS A VERY YOUNG AND HANDSOME MAN. IT IS IN THE FILM ITSELF IT IS SAID THAT HE IS NOT YET 30.THAT YOUTHS'S NAME EVEN NOT PRINTED ANY WHERE. IT S A PITY. MEERA,S CHARACTER ITSELFS PORTRAYS FOR AN AWARD. BUT THROUGH HIS PERFORMANCE AND NEVER WITHOUT A STEREOTAPE VILLAINISM WE ATHE AUDIENCE HATES THAT CHARACTER. IT IS THE VICTORY OF THAT ACTOR WHO HAS DONE HIS MAXIMUM IN THE SHORTEST SPACE AVAILABLE FOR HIM. HE DESERVE THE HONORS REALLY. I DONT KNOW HIS NAME. THIS IS THE MOST PITIEST THING.
